October 23 — Pet Illness Symptoms

Maggie and Tara slept with me all night — started taking Maggie upstairs a few nights ago.

Maggie had to go outside for bowel movements at 1:30 a.m. and at 3:30 a.m. It begins with her sitting up on the bed and panting and staring at me until I do something.

Maggie will go down the stairs on her own but now stands at the foot of the stairs for me to carry her up.

Tara had to go outside because she started gagging at 7:30 a.m. She likes to eat grass when she’s gagging. Problem is the landscapers were here yesterday and there really isn’t any of the grass she likes. Stopped gagging and back in bed by 7:45 a.m. Started gagging at 8:15 and stopped by 8:30.

Maggie had to go outside at 8:50 a.m. — only out for a couple of minutes. Tara’s still out searching for grass…my search for sleep is ending…

Maggie’s lameness seems almost a little less this morning. She’s still lame and it takes her longer to walk out of it but she isn’t walking on three legs as much. She’s playful and eyes are bright.

Went for short walk. Maggie wanted to go further but thought I’d take her out for another short walk this afternoon instead. Maggie ate grass and threw up at the beginning of the walk. Tara ate grass at the end of the walk.

Neither Maggie or Tara ate any breakfast. Tara’s still gagging off and on. Gave her Pharmasave Acid Reducer (Ranitidine Tablets USP 150 mg) at 9:30 — is usually the only thing that I’ve found so far that can sometimes relieve the gagging.

Maggie had a dose of arsenicum album 200 ch. at 10:45 a.m. She’s had no pain medication since the Tremedal at 9:30 last night. Won’t be giving her Metacam today since she’s not eating. Am not going to coax her to eat — think it will be good for her to clear out her system.

Now that Maggie realizes I’m not going to follow her around with food and force her to eat, she doesn’t want to leave my side. For the last half hour she’s been leaving the room if I went near her. Her stomach’s growling and grurgling so loudly they can likely hear it next door!

Went for a walk around 4 to the woods. Kept Maggie on her leash the whole time. Tara was off leash. Maggie actually behaved herself — walked quietly and didn’t get too upset about not being able to run after Tara and the squirrels. Not a good sign…We walked for about 40 minutes.

Maggie ate almost all her dinner with some coaxing. Tara didn’t eat much. She’s really only had 3/4 can of salmon and a little bit of stew all day. Tara did eat her chicken and yogurt treats. Gave her a larger portion than usual since she’s hardly eaten today.

Maggie is pretty stiff and lame tonight. Gave her Tremedal at 6:20 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. and Aurum 1M at 9:15 p.m.
